Operation Holiday Elves 2020

Prospect teachers and staff have been working especially hard this year in our distance learning environment. The PTSA elves have organized a thoughtful, easy way to thank our teachers and staff for the holidays. To participate, choose your teen’s teacher(s) and/or choose school staff (as a group) and the amount you would like to contribute towards a gift. We will calculate the amounts for each teacher and staff group and beautifully present them with a thoughtful gift and card with names of all the contributors.  Our PTSA will determine the best way to deliver the gifts to the teachers and staff in a socially distanced manner. The deadline for families to participate is Dec 14th.

Survey for Honors Classes

Dear Prospect families,
The overall purpose of PTSA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families, students and teachers.More honors classes are proposed to be eliminated. It was explained that this is being done to level the playing field and balance the diversity in the higher level classes in junior and senior years.
The PTSA is requesting your valuable input for this decision. Please fill the survey at below link by Sunday November 15th 10pm PST.

Here are the 2 Surveys with open responses.   We got A LOT of great feedback!  We edited a few comments to be more constructive so all could hear the intention.  As you look at this, ask yourself if you can help in any of these areas because you have a passion for it.  We are always looking for parents and community members to get involved in areas they love.  We will also look at where we want to focus our efforts next year.

Online Learning Tool Grants for Teachers

With the support of your generous donations this year we are able to help our teachers during this challenging time.  Last week the board decided to open up a new set of grants to support our teachers with tools they may need to successfully teach their students online.  This happened so quickly that we wanted to support our teachers with their efforts to keep our students learning.  In a high school each teacher has a different need and with the future budgets uncertain we wanted to make sure that our teachers were supported with needed funds right away.

When Prospect switched to distance learning in March 2020, PTSA initiated emergency Distance Learning grants and awarded over $4,000 to support several teachers with tools they needed to successfully convert their in-person classes to online instruction.
