Teacher Grants
Prior to submitting a grant you must be an active Prospect teacher and a member of the Prospect PTSA, dues are only $7 per year. While there is no requirement for you to attend meetings, we would like to see membership represent the true population of parents, teachers/staff and students.

Grant funding ranges from $50 up to $1,500 per grant. Funds can be distributed via reimbursement with appropriate receipts (only for purchases made after the grant is approved) or the PTSA can buy items directly.
The PTSA Grants Committee will review all grants and rate them on a rubric based on potential impact through the number of students served along with the need.
By applying, you agree to provide pictures/testimony that PTSA can share with our community about how grants enhanced learning & engagement.
We are unable to provide funding for field trips, people’s salary/compensation, food, or other consumables. We are happy to help mobilize the parent volunteer community if you share the details about what food you would like for your event so that you do not have to incur that cost.

PTSA Teacher Grant Application 2026
Teacher Grants Awarded 2023-2024
- Michael Stevens (English): Approving up to $565 for students to publish a book, the Jenga games, the whale costume, and for “Letting Go: How to Give Your Students Control over Their Learning”.
- Spencer Swart (Social Science): Approving up to $150 for “Fantasy Congress” game to help create interest in what is happening in Congress.
- Jennifer Wang (Science): Approving up to $1050 for an adaptable online multimedia based curriculum for Life Sciences and Biology.
- Elena Echevenia (Visual & Performing Arts): Approving up to $1500 for a potter’s wheel for the 3D Art class’ work with clay.
- Cathie Watson-Short (Social Science): Approving up to $150 for the World History textbook written at a reading level accessible to the special education students in her class.
- Joan Antony (Science): Approving up to $300 for the Histology lab for slides to show students the differences between types of tissues in the human body.
- Kim McCarthy (Social Science): Approving up to $80 for a 2-year digital license for Colonization and Independence with a focus on Africa curriculum unit for World History and for flip charts for students to give feedback on their learning.
- Mabel Perra (English/Social Science): Approving up to $160 for abridged versions of classic books for students who are reading below grade level. This will expand vocabulary and allow them to increase reading comprehension when they read the original later.
- Laurel Garceau (French/World Language): Approving up to $640 for the purchase of Scholastic Magazines in French at multiple reading levels.
- Brianne Dawson (AVID/Visual & Performing Arts): Approving up to $220 for 2 sewing machines for 3D Design 3 class
- Gigi Todaro (English): $1000 for a classroom library of physical books
- Michael Stevens: $120 for Would You Rather games and custom stamps
- Joseph Slimak (Social Science): $1800 for Computer to use in classroom for Robotics team, that will allow them to have a dedicated machine and video editing software so that students can create media used to promote STEM and engineering both within Prospect and out in the community. Media created by the team is used at all outreach events, such as elementary and middle school science nights, as well as at booths for the Farmer’s Market.
